Cairo – Farafra – Great Sand Sea – Dakhla – Cairo
For those interested in exploring the Western Desert like the first explorers once did hundreds of years ago. Our Camel safaris bring you the answer. You will be travelling via Camel among a caravan, escorted by Bedouin locals. The Bedouins will explain the desert’s Eco system, reading tracks, looking for water, starting campfire and most of all the secrets of the incomparable Bedouin tea.
Our Camel safaris are fun, safe and adventurous, we use the most tolerant and sturdy Camels, as well as the best quality saddles for Camels, which provide safety and comfort. In the unlikely case of illness or emergency, a medically equipped car will be meeting us daily at our campsite. This safari is tailored for travelers with a keen sense of adventure and the young-at-heart.

Day 1 : Drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis (L/D)
Drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis , which is at a 360 km distance , with the Minibus . After lunch in a local restaurant we continue
Our trip to Farafra. We sleep on the Farm “Abu Nauss” , where the Camels are , or in Hotel”
Day 2 : Draa Mariam (B/L/D)
Start with the Camels from Abu Nuss to Draa Mariam, a flat , wide sand desert . Distance: approx . 20 km
Day 3 : Bir Dakar (B/L/D)
From Draa Mariam we go to Bir Dakar . This is the only spring on the way to Dakhla , where the camels can drink . First sand dunes. Approx 25 km.
Day 4 : Ghard Abou Muharrak (B/L/D)
From Bir Dakar to Ghard Abou Muharrak . This is our first glance on the Great Sand Sea , a chain of dunes that cover the area from Siwa almost until Dakhla . Approx. 30 km .
Day 5 : Sabaa Russ (B/L/D)
Ghard Abou Muharrak to Sabaa Russ . The ride lasts the whole day along the dunes of the Great Sand Sea until its end . approx. 30 km.
Day 6 : Sukkak (B/L/D)
From Sabaa Russ to sukkak , an alley of sand dunes . Approx. 35 km.
Day 7 : Harrafish (B/L/D)
From Sukkak to Harrafish . The way goes through an area with many sharp stones . Approx. 30 km.
Day 8 : El Garal El Malfuf (B/L/D)
From Harrafish to El Garal El Malfuf. We climb up a table mountain , where the balloon – drivers landed . Approx. 25km.
Day 9 : El Selim (B/L/D)
From El Garal El Malfuf to El Selim . We walk down the table mountain on steps and can see the green of El-Kasr Oasis . Aprox.25km.
Day 10 : El Kasr (B/L/D)
From El Selim to El Kasr . Approx. 20 km.
Day 11 : Sightseeing in the old town of El Kasr (B/L/D)
One day for sightseeing in the old town of El Kasr , in which you can see remains from Pharaonic and roman eras.
Day 12 : Cairo (B/L)
In the early morning start with the minibus to Cairo through Farafra , where we have lunch .
