13 Days Camel Safari on the Route of the Old Caravans to Siwa – Cairo – Farafra – White Desert – Great Sand Sea – Siwa
For those interested in exploring the Western Desert like the first explorers once did hundreds of years ago. Our Camel safaris bring you the answer. You will be travelling via Camel among a caravan, escorted by Bedouin locals. The Bedouins will explain the desert’s Eco system, reading tracks, looking for water, starting campfire and most of all the secrets of the incomparable Bedouin tea.
Our Camel safaris are fun, safe and adventurous, we use the most tolerant and sturdy Camels, as well as the best quality saddles for Camels, which provide safety and comfort. In the unlikely case of illness or emergency, a medically equipped car will be meeting us daily at our campsite. This safari is tailored for travelers with a keen sense of adventure and the young-at-heart.

Day 1 : Drive from Cairo to Farafra through Bahariya
In the early morning we drive from Cairo to Farafra through Bahariya. We get acquainted with the camels and sleep on the mountain “Gabal Gunna “ distance : Approx. 540 km.
Day 2 : Gabal Gunna - Wadi El Obaiyed
Start with the camels from Gabal Gunna to Wadi El Obaiyed in the White Desert. There we will see the wonderful chalk sculptures . Ap.30 km .
Day 3 : Ain Dala
From Wadi El Obaiyed to Ain Dala , an old roman spring . Ap 35km.
Day 4 : Ghard El Malfouf
From Ain Dala to Ghard El Malfouf, a chain of dunes , which are part of the Great Sand Sea , which extends until Siwa . Approx. 35 km.
Day 5 : Kosban
Ghard El Malfouf to Kosban . Enjoy the wonderful sand dunes . 30 km.
Day 6 : El Sabaa Russ
From Kosban along the dunes to El Sabaa Russ . Approx. 35.km
Day 7 : Sotra
From El Sabaa Russ to Sotra , an old Oasis for from any road. 30km.
Day 8 : Heduwed 3
From Sotra to Heduwed 3 , which lies in the Great Sand Sea. 30km.
Day 9 : El Areg
From Heduwed 3 , passing the probably most beautiful Oasis El Areg, which can only be reached by camel because of the soft sand, to Bahrien, an Oasis , which lies at two lakes . Approx. 30 km.
Day 10 : Deserted ruins of Zeitun
From Bahrien further to the deserted ruins of Zeitun . Ap. 25 km.
Day 11 : Bir Wahid
From Zeitun to Bir Wahid . Enjoy the bath in the spring and the last view to the great Sand Sea . Approx. 25 km .
Day 12: Visit of Siwa Oasis
Start from Bir Wahid with the Jeep. Visit of Siwa Oasis with its beautiful old quarter Shely , El Dakrour Mountain , from which you have a stunning view. Enjoy a nice bath in Hammam Cleopatra , visit the ruins of Alexander the Great’s palace . Visit the Mountain of the Dead El Mauta with its pharaonic tombs and watch the sunset at the most famous palm tree of Siwa at Fatna’s lake . Accommodation in the hotel .
